Phoenix Lights- Mass UFO Sighting -

1oddday March 13th 1997 - Phoenix, Arizona.

With the overwhelming number of UFO sightings worldwide throughout the years, the Phoenix lights incident is not only one of the most unique cases, but also of extreme importance within the ufology community. The main reason — the sightings were seen by thousands of people, including Arizona then-Governor Fife Symington. Arizona, Nevada and Mexican State of Sonora residents all observed a series of widely sighted UFOs in the skies between 7:30 pm and 10:30 pm MST. The lights were seen by people in the space of about 300 miles, from the Nevada line, through Phoenix, and back to the edge of Tucson. According to observers, two different events occurred in the incident: a triangular formation of lights passed over the state first, followed by a series of stationary lights throughout the Phoenix area

The first reports on the sighting came in at about 7:55 pm MST, when a man called to report seeing a V-shaped object above Henderson, Nevada. He stressed that it was about the size of a Boeing 747 aircraft, and sounded like "rushing wind," with six lightsin front. The lights reportedly covered the northwest to the southeast.

In Prescott Valley, a witness Devon Lorenz and his Aunt Jamie both noticed a cluster of lights to the west-northwest of their position. Lights forming a triangular pattern, but all of them appeared to be red, except the light at the object's nose, which was distinctly white. They noticed the craft passing directly over them then disappearing into the night sky to the southeast.

Another witness driving through the Kingman area, stopped his car to report the incident via a nearby payphone. The National UFO Reporting Center received report from the Prescott area describing the incident. From the various accounts of the sightings, experts in the UFO community assembled a timeline with the mysterious craft drifting from north to south across Arizona.

The United States Air Force identified the second group of lights as flares dropped by A-10 Warthog aircraft on training exercises at the Barry Goldwater Range in southwest Arizona. While some believe the flare story is a lie - just the military's attempt to cover up the truth, others think flares were indeed dropped but only as a diversion so officials could explain what people saw that night.
